This tutorial lists steps on how to boot Google Pixel XL and Pixel into Recovery Mode and Fastboot or Bootloader Mode
Google launched Pixel and Pixel XL Smartphones on October 4, 2016. Both the devices pack good specifications and impressive features. Earlier we have shared a tutorial on how to take screenshots on Google Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones and in this tutorial we have listed steps on how to boot Pixel XL and Pixel into Recovery Mode and Fastboot Mode. Recovery and Fastboot Modes comes in handy to rescue your device from Boot-loop and soft brick. They can be used to restore the device to Factory settings.
Using Recovery Mode we can install the OTA updates manually via adb sideload commands. If you happen to have custom recoveries like TWRP or CWM then you can root your device and also can install Custom ROM’s, kernels and zip mods etc. from Recovery Mode.
Fastboot or Bootloader Mode comes in handy to unlock bootloader on Pixel XL and Pixel. Without unlocking it, we won’t be able to root the device or make any changes to the system files. In fact installing Custom Recovery requires unlocked bootloader.
So here we show how to boot Google Pixel XL and Pixel into Recovery Mode and Fastboot or Bootloader Mode.
How to Boot Google Pixel and Pixel XL into Fastboot Mode:
Step 1: Power off your Pixel/ Pixel XL phone.
Step 2: Press and hold the Volume Down and Power buttons together for few seconds.
Step 3: That’s it, now the Pixel XL or Pixel is booted into Recovery Mode.
How to Boot Pixel and Pixel XL into Recovery Mode:
Step 1: Follow the steps 1 & 2 from the above section.
Step 2: Once the device is booted into Fastboot Mode, press Volume Down button twice or until you see Recovery Mode text on screen.
Step 3: Press the Power button to boot into Recovery Mode.
Step 4: If you are seeing a broken Android bot picture, then press and hold the Power button and Volume Up buttons together once to boot into Stock Recovery. This step in not necessary if you have custom Recovery installed.
