In this tutorial check out the steps on how to enable Root on Lineage OS using SuperSU – Lineage OS Root
Lineage OS is pre-rooted and it comes with all the su binaries built-in. If you are looking to Root Lineage OS then you are at right place. In this tutorial, we are going to show you how to enable Root on Lineage OS ROM. Also, check out the list of Official Lineage OS supported devices and also download the unofficial builds of Lineage OS for various device models. Now let’s proceed and see how to enable Root in Lineage OS.
Enabling Root Access on Lineage OS is quite simple and it doesn’t require extra packages to be flashed via Recovery Mode. It can be rooted without PC. So, let’s now proceed and see how to Root Lineage OS or gain Root access on Lineage OS.
Note: Official version of Lineage OS is now yet released and this tutorial is for the unofficial builds which come with su binaries packed in them. As official version is not released we don’t guarantee whether this tutorial will work or not? If the official build doesn’t come with su binaries in them then this tutorial will not work.
How to Enable Root Access on Lineage OS:
Step 1: Open Settings app on your device running Lineage OS.
Step 2: Scroll down and tap on About Phone.
Step 3: Tap on Build Number for 7-10 times to enable Developer Options.
Step 4: Go Back to Settings and then tap on Developer Options.
Step 5: If all the options are grayed out then turn on the switch at the top right corner to enable Developer Options.
Step 6: Look for Root access option and tap on it and choose Apps and ADB.
Step 7: Also Enable USB Debugging as you might need it in the future if you are into Developing.
That’s it! Enjoy Root Access on Lineage OS and don’t forget to share it with your friends on Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus etc.

IT doesn’t work for me on 14? Can i install supersu instead?

I use Lineage OS 7.1.1 on a Yureka and root works fine. Except when I use ES FileExplorer from Play store. When I try to enable Root Explorer on that app (which enables me to use the explorer/file manager as root and modify files on /system for example), the app says “Sorry test failed. This feature cannot run on your device.” This in spite of the fact that root is enabled on the phone and has given permission to the ES FE app to run as root. I’ve looked around and haven’t found a solution to this. Looks like ES File Explorer is looking for some specific files or binaries to see if the device is rooted and isn’t finding that. Any ideas to make ESFE Root Explorer work in Lineage will be appreciated.
