Before we proceed to install TWRP Recovery and Root Moto X Style / Pure XT1575, we must prepare Moto X Style / Pure for the installation and rooting process. So follow the steps listed below.

Early Preparations:

1. Unlock Bootloader on Moto X Style / Pure XT1575.
2. Make a backup of your data and stuff. Backup SMS | Contacts | Call Logs etc.
3. Enable USB Debugging from Developer Options.
4. Charge Moto X Style / Pure XT1575 to at least 65%.
5. Install Motorola USB Drivers on PC.
6. Setup ADB and Fastboot drivers – Windows | Mac

TWRP Recovery

How to install TWRP Recovery and Root Moto X Style / Pure XT1575:

Step 1: Download the TWRP Recovery image and SuperSU.zip from the above links. Copy the SuperSU.zip file to root of your internal storage.

Step 2: Rename TWRP Recovery to recovery.img and copy it to Fastboot folder.

Step 3: Open the Fastboot folder and press and hold shift key and right click inside the folder at the empty space and choose open command window here.

Step 4: Boot Moto X Style / Pure XT1575 into Bootloader / Fastboot Mode.

• Power off Moto X Style / Pure XT1575.
• Press and hold the Volume Down and power buttons simultaneously.

Step 5: Connect Moto X Style / Pure to PC via OEM USB cable.

Step 6: Now in CMD type the following commands and flash the TWRP Recovery image.

fastboot devices

This command shows list of devices connected to PC in Fastboot Mode. This is just to confirm whether Moto X Style / Pure XT1575 is properly connected to PC or not.

fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

This command flashes the TWRP Recovery image on Moto X Style / Pure XT1575. If you don’t want to install TWRP Recovery image and want to temporarily boot from it then type the following command:

fastboot boot recovery.img

If you are using this command then jump directly to Step 8.

Step 7: Boot Moto X Style / Pure XT1575 into Recovery Mode.

• Power off Moto X Style / Pure XT1575.
• Press and hold the Volume Down and Power buttons simultaneously.
• Choose Recovery from the list using Volume Down key and select it using Volume Up key.

Step 8: Once you are in TWRP Recovery, follow the instructions listed here and install SuperSU.zip package on Moto X Style / Pure XT1575.

Step 9: Reboot.

Step 10: Check for root permissions using Root Checker App.
