Earlier we have shared a tutorial on how to unlock bootloader on YU Yunicorn and also on how to Root the device. In this tutorial we are going to guide you on how to install TWRP Recovery on YU Yunicorn YU5530 Android Smartphone. To install TWRP Recovery make sure you have unlocked bootloader – If not, follow the guide here. YU Yunicorn is a high-end smartphone which packs 4GB RAM, 13MP Camera, Fingerprint Scanner, 4000mAh battery etc. with a price tag of just Rs. 12,999.

Preparing the device:

1. This tutorial is for YU Yunicorn with YU5530 as model number. Don’t try the method shown in this tutorial on other devices.
2. Charge the device to at least 75%.
3. Unlock Bootloader on YU Yunicorn.
4. Make sure you have proper YU USB Drivers and ADB and Fastboot drivers installed on PC.

How to Install TWRP Recovery on YU Yunicorn YU5530:

Step 1: Download TWRP Recovery for YU Yunicorn from here (Mirror).

Step 2: Extract it and obtain recovery.img file and copy it inside the Fastboot folder.

Step 3: Open the Fastboot folder and press and hold the shift key and right click inside the folder at the empty space and choose Open command window here.

Step 4: Connect Yunicorn to PC and enter the below command in CMD to boot it into Fastboot Mode.

adb reboot bootloader

Step 5: Once the device boots into Fastboot Mode, type the below commands in CMD:

fastboot –i 0x1ebf devices

This command shows list of devices connected to PC in Fastboot Mode. It is used to make sure YU Yunicorn is connected to PC properly.

fastboot –i 0x1ebf flash recovery recovery.img

This command flashes recovery.img (TWRP Recovery) on YU Yunicorn.

fastboot –i 0x1ebf reboot

This command reboots YU Yunicorn into normal mode.

Hurray! Now the TWRP Recovery is successfully installed on YU Yunicorn YU5530. You can verify it by powering the device off and pressing and holding Volume Up, Volume Down and Power buttons simultaneously together until YU logo appears on the screen.
