Xiaomi Mi 4 was launched in India recently, while the device was lanced back in August last year in China. The device is exclusively available on Flipkart with a price tag of 19,999 INR. Xiaomi Mi 4 runs on Android 4.4.3 KitKat out of the box and we have no words on when it will get the taste of Lollipop, but the good news is that there are many Custom ROMs available for this device. So in this tutorial we will guide you on how to update Xiaomi Mi 4 to Android 5.0.2 Lollipop using Stock Android 5.0.2 based Custom ROM. So if you are ready to taste the sweetness of Lollipop on Xiaomi Mi 4, then just follow the steps listed in this guide carefully.
The Custom ROM which we are going to install on Xiaomi Mi 4 is AOSP ROM which was developed by XDA Developer @Ivan. This ROM is based on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop and it is not the final version. It is quite stable and supports English language and comes preinstalled with Google apps like Play Store, Gmail, and Google Plus etc.
Getting Prepared:
- Backup your device. Backup all the important data and stuff - SMS, Contacts and Call Logs.
- Enable USB Debugging on Xiaomi Mi 4.
- Ensure that Xiaomi Mi 4 is charged to at least 75% to prevent unexpected shutdown due to battery drain while installing the ROM.

Step 1: Download the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop ROM from here.
Step 2: Transfer it to your device’s internal storage and make sure it is not copied inside any folder, just copy it at the root of internal storage.
Step 3: Boot Xiaomi Mi 4 into Recovery Mode.
- Power off Xiaomi Mi 4.
- Press and hold Volume Up and Power buttons simultaneously until the device boots into Recovery Mode.
